Celebrate World Water Day with a Story That Teaches Kids to Love Water and Protect the Earth.

Today is World Water Day, and as a children’s book author and an advocate for clean water, this day holds deep personal meaning for me.

My first children’s book, Nana’s Magic Waterfall, was born out of a desire to teach young children the value of clean water, the importance of being responsible stewards of the environment, and the power of teamwork. It is a story inspired by my childhood in Ghana, where I experienced firsthand the daily challenges of water scarcity and by my son, whose curiosity and joy continue to push me to create meaningful stories for the next generation.

Why Clean Water Matters to Me

Many of us take access to clean water for granted. But in many rural villages across Ghana, children and families still walk long distances to fetch water that may not even be safe to drink. That reality shaped my journey as an environmental engineer and scientist, and it’s why I’ve spent years working with communities in the United States and Ghana to implement clean drinking water projects.

Clean water is life, health, opportunity, and a human right.

Storytelling with Purpose

Through Nana’s Magic Waterfall, I want to empower children with knowledge at an early age. Storytelling is a powerful tool—it plants seeds that grow into understanding, empathy, and action. This book teaches:

  • The importance of clean water
  •  How to be a responsible environmental steward
  •  The strength found in working together as a team

By integrating these lessons into colorful, relatable stories, we can make complex global challenges easier for children to understand—and inspire them to care deeply about their world.

Continuing the Mission

Beyond the pages of my books, I remain committed to water access and sustainability projects. I’m working on expanding clean water access to underserved communities in Ghana in partnership with individuals and organizations in the U.S.

This is just the beginning. I will continue using storytelling, education, and hands-on service to help solve one of the most pressing issues of our time.
